Artuch Village Experience: Kulichukurak & Kulikalon Lakes 2 Days / 1 Night

Day 1: Samarkand – Panjakent – Artuch – Kulichukurak Lake

Your journey begins with pickup from your hotel in Samarkand and a transfer to the Jartepa border. After completing border formalities and crossing on foot, meet your Tajik driver on the Tajikistan side.

Continue to Panjakent for a visit to the local bazaar, where you can explore the stalls and purchase fruit, snacks, and supplies for your picnic. An optional visit to the Sarazm archaeological site and museum can be arranged; the entrance fee is not included.

Continue towards Artuch on a scenic drive through the villages and countryside of the Panjakent region. Enjoy views of rural life and the surrounding mountains along the way. The journey covers approximately 90 km and takes around two hours.

Upon arrival, check in at your guesthouse and enjoy lunch before preparing for the afternoon trek.

In the afternoon, begin your trek to Kulichukurak Lake, taking approximately 1.5 hours to reach the lake(Elevation 2400 m). Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and mountain views before returning to the guesthouse for dinner.

Day 2: Artuch – Kulikalon Lakes – Panjakent

After an early breakfast, begin your trek to the Kulikalon Lakes, situated approximately 2,800 metres above sea level. Follow a steadily ascending trail through mountain landscapes, with views of the surrounding peaks along the way.

Upon reaching the lakes, enjoy a picnic beside the water and time to explore the nearby shoreline and photograph the alpine scenery. Return to Artuch along the same trail. Allow approximately six hours of walking for the round trip, with additional time for lunch, photographs, and rest stops.

After the hike, meet your driver and travel via Panjakent to the Jartepa border. Complete border formalities and cross on foot, then meet your Uzbek driver for the transfer to Samarkand. Your tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
