Day 1: Samarkand – Panjakent – Seven Lakes

Your journey begins with pickup from your hotel in Samarkand. Travel by private vehicle to the Jartepa border crossing. After completing the Uzbekistan border formalities, cross the border on foot and enter Tajikistan. Your Tajik driver will meet you on the Tajikistan side with a Union Travel Uzbekistan sign. Continue to Panjakent and visit the city’s traditional bazaar. Explore the colorful stalls and purchase fruit, bread, snacks and other items for your mountain picnic. An optional visit to the UNESCO-listed archaeological site of Sarazm can be arranged. The entrance fee is paid separately. Afterward, travel into the Fann Mountains towards the Seven Lakes, also known as Haft Kul. Follow the mountain road through the Shing River Valley and visit the first six lakes: Nezhigon Soya Gushor Nofin Khurdak Marguzor Each lake has its own shape, color and surrounding landscape. There will be stops for photographs, short walks and panoramic views along the route. In the evening, check in at a local guesthouse near the lakes. Enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the night in the peaceful mountain valley.
